Funeral for Phillip Irwin of Decatur will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Dunivant and the Rev. Roger Short officciating.
Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Irwin died Monday at Limestone Health Facility in Athens. He was born August 22, 1917, in Hillsboro. In 1925, his family moved to Decatur, where he grew up and attended school. During World War II, he served in the Army Corps of Engineers in Europe. He was a building contractor in Decatur for 30 years and a member of First United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, serving on the administrative board and the board of trustees. He was a member of the Harris Lend-A-Hand Class.
