He continued his education at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for another year.

On June 9, 1939, Richard was united in marriage to Doris Laurene Sundberg at her parents' home in Linn Grove. They were blessed with two sons, James and David. Richard and Doris would have celebrated 67 years together this year on their wedding anniversary in June.

Richard was an electrician by trade until his retirement. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League, the local rifle club and the AmVets in Storm Lake. Richard was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian faith, baptized as an infant and a member at Lakeside Presbyterian in Storm Lake at the time of his death. He also served his church as an Elder.

Richard had many interests. He enjoyed antique automobiles, especially his 1937 Ford. He also liked motorcycles and was a student of aviation. He liked the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and traveling. He was a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris of Storm Lake; son James Inman of St. Petersburg, Florida; son David Inman of Storm Lake; granddaughter Stephanie (Brian) Johnson of Sehastopal, California; great-granchildren Ali, Mitchell and Andrew, all of Sehastopal, California; brother-in-law John D.
