Charlie and Cindy Inman were hard-working subsistence farmers who lived in a log house. Census records indicate that the Inmans had three children, none of whom lived into adulthood but they did take in a baby, Sarah Eliza "Sadie" Conder when her mother died a few days after she was born. Though they never adopted Sadie, they raised her as their own. Sadie's father, Adam Conder later married Cindy's sister Minerva and moved to Missouri.
