Jesse A. Sprott, 95, of 1300 Ave D, died Wednesday in the Cochise County Hospital in Douglas, Arizona.
Born July 1, 1884 in Texas, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Sprott.
He came to Spearville when he was 17, and married Miss Mable C. Dale in 1910 at Forgan, Okla., They lived near Bucklin and Ford before moving to Dodge City in the 1930's. She died in 1935. Later he married Mrs. Bertha Mae Imel whose death was May 14, 1961. He married Mrs Marcia Ann Cross who died Jan. 27, 1966. He then married Mrs. Mamie Rushing on May 22, 1967 in Cimarron.
Mr. Sprott was employed by Ford County for many years as operator of a road maintainer. He has been retired for several years. He had resided in Arizona for the past four years because if ill health.
He was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Dodge City.
Mr. Sprott is survived by his widow; four sons, Dale of Highland, Calif., Mark and Lloyd of Sierra Vista Ariz., and Glenn of Somerset, Great Britain; four daughters, Esther Sprott of Wilcox, Ariz., Mrs. Edith Salem, Ingalls, Mrs. Dorothy Scheuerman of Highland, Calif., one sister Mrs. Pearl Pearsall of Elkhart; 31 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jack Hager officiating. Friends may call Sunday until 9 p.m. at the Hulpieu-Swalm Funeral Home.
Bertha Mae Metcalf first married Josiah B. Imel Memorial #17696949 (6 Aug 1880-27 Aug 1942) 5 Apr 1899 and had 6 children; Laroy, Amy, Charles, Harry, Ethel, and Carol.
