Fatally Hurt in Illinois Accident
Carolyn Ijames of Belleville One of Five Victims of Car-Train Crash
Carolyn Janet Ijames, 16-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ijames of Belleville, was fatally injured at Tuscola, Ill., last Saturday afternoon when a train struck the car in which she was riding.
The accident also took the lives of Caroline’s sister, Mrs. Bonnie Elaine Carrico of Sidney, Ill., Mrs. Carrico’s husband, Lonzo Cameo, jr., and their two daughters, Terry, 5, and Janice, 3.
Caroline had been visiting the Carricos since June 1 at their home in Sidney, Ill., near Tuscola.
When news of the accident reached Belleville, Mr. Ijames and son, Laverne, accompanied by the Rev. John Neese went to Tuscola for an inquest and then on to Carlisle, Ind., where memorial services for the Carricos were held Tuesday.
Caroline is survived by her parents and three brothers, Laverne, Duane and Richard of the home in Belleville, a half brother, Earl Launer, of Cheyenne, Wyo., and a grandfather, William Ijames of Concordia.
Memorial services will be held in Belleville this morning (Thursday) at 10 o’clock at Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart chapel with the Rev. M. Neese officiating. A service will be conducted by the Rainbow Girls of Belleville, of which Caroline was a member. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Ames, Kans.
