She was born Jan. 17, 1932 in McKeesport to the late Wallis and Josephine Gorman Hyde.
She was a former employee of the Mechanicsburg School District library and S H Black & Son Co.; and a member of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church, where she was a former teacher and deacon, and General Federation of Women's Club.
Surviving are her husband, Samuel H. Black; four daughters, Susan Eagen of Tennessee, Margaret Woll of Mechanicsburg, Constance Roland of Mechanicsburg and Jessica Black of California; a daughter-in-law, Kierna Black of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Harriette VanHorn of Lewisburg.
She was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Andrew, who died May 8, 2001; a brother, Richard Hyde, who died July 1, 2003; and a granddaughter, Amy Marie Woll, who died April 1, 2010.
Services were held Aug. 24 in her church with the Rev. Myrtle McCall officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown.
Hollinger Funeral Home and Crematory, Mt. Holly Springs, handled arrangements.
