Mrs Joseph U. David (Sarah Hyde) passed this life on last Saturday morning, March 20, 1920. She had been failing in health for some time and during the last few months has been quite helpless. The immediate cause of her death was paralysis. Sarah Arminda Hyde was born on April 18, 1843, at Waynesville, Ohio, and came to Illinois in 1867, making her home with her sister, Mrs Borden who then lived in the southern part of Mercer county. Here she resided until in 1885 when she was married to Mr J.U. David. From this date until 1892 they lived on their farm when they moved to Alpha, Illinois. In 1906 they came to Aledo which was their home until the death of Mr David in the closing days of 1914. From this time on Aunt Sarah has made her home near Richmond, Indiana, in the home of her sister and husband. Mrs David was the last of her family to depart this life. Aunt Sarah was converted in childhood while living in Ohio. Her whole life has been one of devotion to her God. To her her religion was that of real living, inseparable and essential part of her life. The most marked characteristic of Mrs David was her outstanding faithfulness for none could fail to see her faithfulness to her God. To know her at all you could not help but discover her beautiful faithfulness to those of her home and loved ones. Her long life was one of true devotion, great industry, true economy and of that most delightful faithfulness.

The remains arrived in Aledo Monday evening, accompanied by Mr and Mrs J.W. Ferguson of Richmond, and were taken to the Dr. G.L David home. The funeral services were held from the Aledo Baptist church, Tuesday, March 23, 1920, Rev. J.M. Jones of Carthage officiating. Interment was made in the mausoleum in the Aledo cemetery.
