Grand Junction News, page 3 - C-2 March 28, 1888
Huxley - On Tuesday March 20, 1888, Alonzo Huxley, of Bright's disease of the kidneys. Aged 45 years.
The diseased came to Grand Junction some weeks ago, and was soon taken with the above named disease, from which he never recovered. He was almost an entire stranger, with the exception of Mr. J.J. Goldsby, who knew him fifteen years ago in Denver, when the deceased was in affluent circumstances, and was said to have been worth sixty thousand dollars. He has a wife and daughter at Glenwood Springs who were telegraphed to concerning his death. He is supposed to have been a member of the G.A.R. and also a Mason, as emblems of these orders were found among his effects. The Masonic fraternity and G.A.R. people took the remains in charge and they were buried on Thursday in the Fairview Cemetery.
