Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the US Army at Cincinnati, Ohio. He served as a Sergeant in Company B, 7th US Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for action on June 25, 1876 at the Little Big Horn River, Montana. His citation reads "Guarded and carried the wounded, brought water for the same, and posted and directed the men in his charge under galling fire from the enemy."
