Thomas Hutchins immigrated to the U.S in 1888 and was naturialized in 1908. He entered the U.S. Army on 7 Aug 1918 and was honorably discharged on 1 Feb 1919. He was a bricklayer by trade.

Thomas married Laura McIntosh on 10 Jun 1918 and they had one known son. His death occurred before that of his son who was killed in action during WWII. Thomas is buried in the McIntosh family Lot where his wife and son are also interred.

Thomas Hutchins, 57, of 437 Perkins st., active for 30 years in Akron as a bricklaying contractor and lodge member, died Thursday at his home. He had been ill four months.

Born in London, Eng., Mr. Hutchins came to Akron in 1914. He serviced in the first World war and was a member of American Legion Post 19, Masonic lodge 83, Nazir Grotto, Eagle lodge 555, Clan McKenzie, and the Bricklayer’s union.

Mr. Hutchins leaves his widow, Laura G. of Akron; on son, Second Lieut. Bruce, with the army air force in Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Ormerod of Fall River, Mass., and Mrs. Carrie Tibbals of Cortland, Me.; three brothers, John and Arthur of Fall River and George of Westfield, N.J.

Friends may call at the residence, where services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Walter Tunks officiating. Burial will be in Mount Peace cemetery by Eckard funeral home.
