Hazel M. Alderman, 89 of Forsyth, passed away on Tuesday January 18, 2000 at the Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth.
Hazel was born October 21, 1910 in Spokane, WA, the daughter of Herbert H. and Bonnie Howard Hussey.
Hazel's father passed away in 1913 and her mother remarried Herbert A Williams in 1916, moving with her family north of Hardin in 1916.
She attended schools in Hardin, graduating from Hardin High School, and later graduating from Business College. During WWII, Hazel went to work for the Federal Government in Washington, D.C. Following WWII, Hazel went to Canada with a friend where she met her future husband.
On March 3, 1947, Hazel married Fred J. Alderman in Victoria, B.C. In 1949, they moved to Billings with Fred working construction and in 1952, Hazel and Fred returned to Spokane. In 1957 they moved back to Montana, settling in Myers, west of Hysham. They owned and operated the Myers Mercantile Store and ran the Myers Post Office, with Hazel serving as Postmaster. Hazel retired in 1975 when the Myers Post Office closed but continued to live at Myers. Fred died in 1979 and Hazel moved to Forsyth in the early 1980's and has lived there since.
Hazel was a member of the Treasure Chapter 119 Order of the Eastern Star of Hysham where she served as Past Worthy Matron, Bethlehem Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Forsyth, and the Forsyth Federated Church. Hazel had a special love for her nieces and nephews. She loved cooking, growing flowers and really enjoyed life.
She is survived by her sister Norma Miller of Ennis, MT; three nieces, Janice (Ken) Watson of Forsyth, Ginger (Tom) Redding of Fort Shaw, MT, Bonnie (Mike) Ellenwood of Banner, WY; five nephews, John (Carol) Williams of Boise, ID, Butch Jones of Hardin, Larry (Becky) Miller of Colstrip, Lynn (Kay) Miller of Lewiston, ID, Bemard (Dot) of Hardin; two step-kids, Kenny Retherick of Canada and Carla Hay of Bothell, WA; as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Interment: Rancher Cemetery
