Hurst, passed from life at the family home near Belle Valley Thursday evening, January 2, 1936, at 9:00 o'clock, aged almost sixty-five years, after a lingering illness of complications. She was the daughter of Perry and Rachel Downey Davis, and was born at the Davis homestead, two miles north of Belle Valley, January 23, 1871. She was united in marriage to George M. Hurst, December 26, 1894, and to this union five children were born, one dying at birth. She is survived by her husband, three daughters and one son as follows: Mrs. Raymond McDonald, Mrs. Clifford Fogle, Miss Myrle, of the home, and Urbane Hurst, all of Belle Valley; also seven grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Ida J. McFerren, and one brother, Otis D. Davis, both of the vicinity of Belle Valley, also survive, and her many friends that mourn her death. In early life she professed her faith in the Saviour and united with the Union Chapel M.P. Church. She was loyal and devoted to her family. Services were conducted Sunday afternoon by Rev. H.H. Davis, of Dennison, and Rev. C.B. Linard, of Belle Valley, at the Belle Valley M.P. Church, with burial in the Olive Cemetery.
