The subscribing-Citisens of Utica, having employed Ms. Samantha M. Huntington as a teacher of our Children for a considerable time past, regret that she is about to leave us - and as a tribute justly due to her for her kindness and assiduity - in the management of those committed to her guidance & instruction, & as a testimonial of our esteem for her, do hereby recommend her as well deserving patronage in the very honorable profession - in which she has for a number of years been engaged an instructor of the young.

Samantha became the wife of Albert Arnold, a widowed farmer with a daughter (Adeline Wall Arnold), on May 21, 1845, at Burlington, N.Y. Albert Arnold, born December 26, 1807, was the son of George and Hannah (Randall) Arnold and a descendant of William Arnold, patriarch of the Providence, RI Arnold family of which Benedict Arnold was also a member. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Victoria, Knox County, IL.

Albert Arnold is believed to have been one of the local farmers who helped Catherina Whilhelmina Petronella Skoglund and Pehr Dahlgren flee the Bishop Hill Colony to be married in 1848 [3]. Catherina's half sister was the wife of Olof Olson [4], a founder of the colony. The Dahlgrens' escape is documented by manuscripts of the colony
