Anita Gibbs, Beverly Garrett, Elois Jeans and Beulah Hunter died together June 1 in a crash on Interstate 70.They were headed to Kankakee, Ill., for a family member's wedding anniversary when an eastbound tractor-trailer plowed into seven cars.

Two other relatives, Theotis and Deborah Casey, were travelling in another vehicle behind them and were also injured in the crash.

Mrs. Hunter, 95, was a long-time caregiver. She was a beloved and dedicated mother and grandmother.

Services for the ladies was held at the Sheffield Family Life center on Saturday, June 10. Close to 2,000 people attended a wake held Friday night, June 9, at the Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ.

The family eulogy was given by Rev. William H. Copeland Jr., pastor of the Morning Star Missionary Baptist church, in Kankakee, Ill.

Rev. Copeland was the brother of Mrs. Jeans and Mrs. Hunter and the uncle of Mrs. Garrett and Mrs. Gibbs.

All of the women will best be remembered for their love and dedication to their family and friends as well as helping others and those in need. They are greatly missed.
