Son of Charles and Mary Williams (nee Tregilgas) Hunter of 56 Kensington Rd, Rose Park, Adelaide, South Australia. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 29 August 1914 and embarked from Adelaide for overseas aboard HMAT "Ascanius" (A11) on 20 October 1914. He died of wounds received in action at the 1st South African General Hospital, Abbeville, France, aged 35 years.
