Juannema Otholene Ferguson, age 80, of Mangum, passed away at her residence on Tuesday morning, April 1, 2008.
Mrs. Ferguson was born on May 19, 1927, to Othor States and Mary M. (Stevens) Hunt in Granite, Oklahoma.
A graduate of Granite High School, she married Chester L. Ferguson and spent the next several years living in Southwest Oklahoma while he was a member of the United States Army. After his discharge, they lived in several states, including, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma and Oregon.
While in Arizona, she graduated from Brean
College as an ordained licensed minister. Returning to Mangum, she concentrated on her ministry to others and writing and publishing Gospel songs until her death. Spending time with her family was a favorite pastime, but praising God and helping others was what her life was about.
Juannema was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Asberry Ferguson; two infant sisters, Arelia Ferguson and Erda Patricia Ferguson; two sisters, Vasta Lee Long and Adelwis Bryant and two brothers, Desmond Duane Hunt and Othor C. Hunt.
She is survived by three children; Clifford L. Ferguson and wife Patricia of Chloride, Arizona, Boyce D. Ferguson and wife Patricia of Okmulgee, Oklahoma and Juanita Campo of Mangum; three sisters, Rudean Carothers and husband Ray of Granite, Rita Thomas of Blair and Shirren Jones of Mangum; ten grandchildren, Clint Ferguson, Diana White, Terri Wiley, Barbara Ferguson, Jeannetta Ferguson, Johnny Ferguson, Scott Campo, Michael Campo, Brian Campo and MeLisa Campo; twenty-six great grandchildren along with many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Juannema Ferguson will be at 2 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2008, at the Rose Assembly with Boyce D. Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
The family will greet friends from 6 until 7 p.m., on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Greer Funeral Home.
