History of Macon county Illinois

Cora was the tenth daughter of George Washington Hunt and was born July 11, 1846 in Shellaburg, Pa.She was married twice, first husband was A. J. Grantz and they were married in Pa, Jan. 7, 1870. Mr. Grantz died April 25, 1894 in Belleville, Illinois. Her second husband was Arthur F. Alward, of Bellewood, Pa, Sept ?, He died March 15, 1909. She is living in Decatur, Illinois at the present time with her sister Mrs. Mary E. James.

Funeral services for Mrs.Cora Hunt Alward 95,who died late Wednesday in her home, 224 W. Prairie Ave. will be conducted at 2 pm Saturday in the Monson funeral home with burial in Greenwood cemetery. Friends may call at Monsons
Mrs. Alward had been a resident of Decatur for 20 years. Since coming to Decatur, Mrs. Alward had made her home with a sister, Mrs. Mary James, until the latter died last June
A daughter of George W. and Hannah Hunt, Mrs. Alward was born on July 11,1846, in Shellburg, Pa. Mrs. Alward was a member of the Presbyterian church and was active her entire life as a Sunday school teacher.
She leaves a number of nieces and nephews. Those known in Decatur, are Mrs.W. H. Suffern of Decatur,Mrs.A. F. Wilhelmy of St.Louis,Mrs.B. M. Godwin of Portland,Ore. and Mrs. R. E. Berger of Oakland, Calif.She also was an aunt of the late Robert I.Hunt of Decatur.
