CHESAPEAKE - Samuel C. Hunt, 69, of the 1900 block of Robert Hall Blvd., passed away Dec. 6, 2005. Samuel was born Aug. 16, 1936, to the late Arthur and Ruth Jackson in Norfolk County. He was a 1955 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and retired from Moon Engineering after 27 years of service. He was predeceased by a son, Alexander Holloway III.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife of 49 years, Louise Gray-Hunt; three sons, Samuel A. Hunt, James McDonald and Samuel C. Holloway; seven daughters, Cynthia Terry (George), Ruth Hunt (Melvin), Kelcey Hickman (Memphis), Janice Bright (David), Cliftine Gunter, Sandy Morgan (Cevin) and Retta Holloway; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ames; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Burden (Russell) and Shirley Gray; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 232 Chapel St. Interment will be at St. Luke Cemetery, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 1937 Robert Hall Blvd. one hour prior to the service for the procession to the church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
