Obituary in the Newport, Rhode Island, Daily News; Thursday, February 26, 1953:
"Livingston Hunt Jr., 58, World War I veteran and former proof reader in foreign languages for Ginn Co., Boston publishers, died suddenly of a heart attack yesterday at his home...A Newport native, he had been living here for the last three years during the serious illness of his mother, Mrs. Catherine Howland Hunt. His father, Rear Adm. Livingston Hunt, Pay Corps, USN, died at the Naval Hospital Jan. 22, 1943. The family had made their home in Newport since Admiral Hunt's retirement in 1923. Mr. Hunt's grandfather, the late William H. Hunt, at one time was secretary of the Navy and United States ambassador to Russia.
Mr. Hunt, who served with the Army in France in World War I, was graduated from Harvard University in 1919. He studied library science at Columbia University and organized the French Library Center in Boston. He maintained a lively interest in foreign languages. At the time of his death, he was studying Russian at the evening course in Rogers High School. He belonged to the Redwood Library, Clambake Club, the Newport Historical Society, Art Association, Players Guild, Newport Music Club, and to the Harvard Club of Boston and Alliance Francaise.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Trinity Church. Interment will be in Island Cemetery."
