A Mass of Christian Burial for Betty Darbonne Hundley, age 60, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, followed by entombment in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Church Point. The Reverend Paul Bienvenu will be the celebrant of the Mass.
Mrs. Hundley, who was a resident of Opelousas, died on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 9:45 a.m. in the Opelousas General Health System surrounded by her loving family.
Betty worked as an inside salesman with Standard Fittings and more recently with Phoenix Fittings. She loved to travel and embarked on 10 cruises with the love of her life, her husband Barry. She was the number one fan of her grandchildren and loved attending their baseball games.
Betty created a new tradition among her family by being the queen of Black Friday shopping sprees. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Barry Hundley of Opelousas; sons, Barry Hundley, JR and wife Jea of Prairie Ronde and Brian Hundley and wife Meghan of Opelousas; daughter, Bridget Fontenot and husband Jarid of Opelousas; brothers, Harry Darbonne and wife Anna of Carencro, Harold Darbonne and wife Debbie of Church Point, and Randy Darbonne of Lewisburg; sisters, Beverly Venable and Edna Thibodeaux both of Opelousas; grandchildren, Caleb Hundley, Caitlyn Hundley, Alyssa Hundley, Camryn Hundley, Carter Fontenot and Carsyn Fontenot.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marie Thibodeaux Darbonne and a brother, Raphael Darbonne.
