Daniel J. Hummer, 76, of Lima, died at 8:05 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2006, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born March 19, 1929, in Delphos, the son of the late Leo and Luise (Plotscher) Hummer. On November 29, 1952, he married Marjorie Dray, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Hummer worked at Ford Motor Company in Lima for 33 years. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved the game of golf and was an avid Tiger Woods and Cleveland Browns fan. He will be eternally missed by his family and his many friends. He loved the Lord dearly.
In addition to his wife, survivors include five sons, James (Kristy) Hummer of Elida, Mark (Jeanne) Hummer of Delphos, Kevin Hummer of Columbus, Steve Hummer of Van Wert and Alex Hummer of Lima; four daughters, Michele (Ronald) Suever of Elida, Barbara (Kenny) Brinkman of Middle Point, Melanie (Tom) Brinkman of Delphos and Tara (Jason) Fleischman of Lima; two brothers, James Fuerst of New York and Richard Hummer of Florida; 20 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Hummer, and a grandson, Gregory Suever.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, with the Rev. Dan Eaton officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Van Wert.
Viewing hours are from 5-8 p.m. Monday, January 30, and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
