The funeral of the late Mrs. Jane M. Hunnisten Church was held Monday afternoon at the Baptist church with Rev. George H. Lockhart in charge.
Mrs. Church was a resident of Barrington for 15 years and left here about 25 years ago. She lived for many years with her husband, the late Horace H. Church, on Main street in the present Comstock house which was built by Mr. Church's father. She was prominent socially and a member of the Baptist church. Throughout her life wherever she lived, she was known as possessing many sterling qualities; she was just, generous, kind and devoted to her family and friends. Ill health had kept her inactive for the past few years and her death was not unexpected. A recent paralytic stroke hastened the end which occurred at the home of her son, Dr. A. R. Church, in Warsaw, Indiana.
Mrs. Church was born in Newark, Illinois, and was married in October 14, 1864. Mr. Church died in Chicago, June 8, 1886 and was buried here. He was an uncle of Delos Church of South Hawley street. During his residence here he ran a grain and lumber business with the late George Comstock in a warehouse, east of the depot, which burned long ago.
Two children were born to them, Dr. Church and Mrs. Ida Church Lake, who died April 27, 1882.
With Dr. Church two grandchildren attended the funeral, Mrs. Violet Lake Middlekauf and Horace Lee Church of Indiana, and a nephew, Garrett Church of Chicago.
