Helen Elaine Herman, 91, resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville, Pa. since 1997 and previously of Woodcock, Crawford County died peacefully there Saturday, December 2, 2006. Born in Cambridge Township, Crawford County on August 29, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Thomas P. Humes and Flora Cutshall Humes. She married Harold J. Herman on June 16, 1934 and he died on February 27, 1983. Mostly a home maker, she was employed as a custodian at Cambridge Springs Elementary School for 15 years, retiring in 1977. While in better health Mrs. Herman was affiliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Cambridge Springs. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting and attending the Cambridge Springs Senior Citizens Center. Family surviving her include two daughters - Daisy Klempay of Erie and Shirley Matelock and her husband, J. Ron, of Venango; a son - Harold B. Herman and his wife, Donna of Erie; seven grandchildren - Robert Shearer, Deborah Haregsin, Linda Stemka, Roger Gill, Larry Gill, Carol Leemhuis, and Jeffrey Herman; 19 great grandchildren, and 21 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 48 years, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren - David Allen Gill and Rosemary Fisher; and one great grand child. Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held there on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Venango Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wesbury Foundation, 31 North Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335
