Former Steamboat Springs resident Helen Rose BOWDEN passed away May 9, 2008, at the Sommerset Assisted Living Facility in Longview, Washington. She was 91.
Helen was born October 12, 1917, in Steamboat Springs, the youngest daughter of Lester and Rose HULBURD.
Helen was preceded in death by six siblings and her husband of 72 years, Grant BOWDEN.
Prior to moving to Kelso, Washington, in 1991, Helen and Grant lived in Steamboat Springs, Scottsdale, Arizona, and Lincoln City, Oregon.
During her early life, Helen worked as a bookkeeper and in women's apparel sales. She enjoyed skiing, dancing, group singing, camping, fishing, gardening and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of Order of the Eastern Star.
Helen is survived by her sons, David of Woodland, Washington, and James of Brick, N. J., and their spouses; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, many of whom were with her in her final days.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home in Longview, Washington.
A graveside service will be held in Steamboat Springs, tentatively scheduled for July 15.
