Jane C. Huit, 93, formerly of Iowa City passed away at the Hospice of St John in Denver, Colorado, on Sunday, January 16, 2011. Jane was the wife of the late Marion L. Huit.
Born on Sept. 22, 1917 in Dayton, Ohio to John Burch Clark and Nellie Zuercher Clark, Jane graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a degree in vocal music. She met and married Marion in Dayton and they came to Iowa City in 1946. She was also president of the University Women's Club, co-founder of the International Women's Club, an active member of the local chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta and a member of P.E.O. She and her husband were both frequent attendees at University concerts, plays and operas.
Jane was also an accomplished artist and enjoyed working at the local rec center, doing printmaking, watercoloring and drawing. But most importantly, Jane was a kind, thoughtful, loving person who was always quick to laugh. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her three daughters, Sara (Sally), Nancy, and Mary Ann, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A memorial service is planned for the spring... A memorial service for Jane C.
