FORT WORTH, Tx — John Callender Hugon, 55, of Fort Worth, Texas, died Nov. 17, 2010, in Oklahoma City. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at the Fort Worth First United Methodist Church with Dr. Mike Marshall officiating. A private burial will be held later at Rose Hill Cemetery, Tyler, Texas.
He was born March 1, 1955, to Marjorie Boone and D.L. Hugon, Jr., in Houston, Texas. He attended The Kinkaid School in Houston, graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas, in 1973, attended Southwestern University at Memphis (now Rhodes College) graduating with a B.A. with Distinction in Economics in 1977, and received an M.B.A. from the University of Texas in 1979. Following graduation, he worked for MBank in Houston, and Security Corporation and AMQUEST Bancorp in Duncan, Oklahoma. During the 1990s, he formed and managed The Parkview Corporation. After earning his Chartered Financial Analyst in 2001, he opened an investment company later called Hugon Capital Management. He was a Director of BancFirst Corporation and served on its Trust and Audit Committees.
John served a long tenure on the Rhodes College Board of Trustees, was a member of the Charles E. Diehl Society at Rhodes, and was a past president of the Rhodes College International Alumni Association. He was a member of Chief Executives Organization and World Presidents Organization where he served as Fort Worth Chapter Chair and Education Chair, was a former member of Young Presidents Organization, and a member of Leadership Oklahoma Class III. He served the Alliance for Children of Tarrant County Board of Directors, the Duncan Regional Hospital Board of Directors as Chairman, on the Oklahoma State Board of Education and Career Tech Board, and Black Beaver Boy Scout Council Board of Directors. John was a member of the Rotary Club of Fort Worth, MotorSport Ranch, the Sports Car Club of America, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and the First United Methodist Church. He was a friend of Bill W.
John was an avid hobbyist and passionate collector. He was dedicated to education, encouraging young men and women in their dreams, as well as being a lifelong learner himself. Recently he renewed his interest in the Middle East, studying Arabic and traveling to Israel, Palestine, and Morocco. He was supportive of the Hand In Hand School in Jerusalem that provides classes for Jewish and Arab students to learn side by side.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his two sons, Justin Hugon of Gainesville, FL, and Will Hugon of Duncan, his former wife, Marilyn Maurer Hugon of Duncan, an uncle, Joe F. Hugon of Magnolia, Texas, and many cousins and friends.
