Rose L. McCarty-Pickens of Eugene died Oct. 17 of age-related causes. She was 86.
McCarty-Pickens was born Aug. 28, 1919, in Anaheim, Calif., to Nicholas and Lilly Hugo. She married Arthur McCarty in May 1937 in El Cerrito, Calif. He later died. She next married Delbert Pickens, who died in 1993.
She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, living there until she was 28. She moved to Oregon in 1947. She worked as a medical receptionist until her retirement.
McCarty-Pickens belonged to the Moose Lodge and Eugene Business Women. She enjoyed buying and selling collectibles and antiques, and playing golf.
Survivors include a son, Donald McCarty of Rhododendron; a daughter, Annette McCarty-Dias of Eureka, Calif.; a sister, Madlyn Ratliff of Junction City; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A grandson, Mark Tarelli, died previously.
No service is planned. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
