While the Hughes family was living in New Mexico, Leona married George Moore from Rhode Island. The couple had three children--Robert, born in 1892; Pearl, born in 1895; and Carl, born in 1897. Apparently, either George died or the couple divorced some time between 1900 and 1902.
After the death or divorce from George Moore, Leona Hughes married Pleasant Wimberley, Jr., on June 26, 1903, in Bisbee, Cochise County, Arizona. Their first child Erma Leona was born in 1904; their son Pleasant III was born in 1906; and another daughter Madia "Maidie" Belle was born in 1907. In 1910 in Douglas, Cochise County, New Mexico, two of Leona's children by her first husband--Carl and Pearl--were living in the household with Pleasant and Leona May Hughes Moore Wimberley and their two children Erma and Madia, Pleasant III having died as an infant.
Leona died on April 22, 1913, in Douglas at the age of 36 during childbirth. Her infant son died with her. She was buried in Calvary Cemetery in Douglas.
