Joseph Randolph Hughes, 44, of Waynesboro, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at the home of his brother in Arlington. Mr. Hughes was born on February 15, 1967, in Waynesboro, Virginia, a son of the late Nelson G. Hughes and surviving Frances Lowery Hughes.
He worked as a pipefitter for Brown and Root Company and was an avid fisherman and musician. In addition to his mother, Mr. Hughes is survived by a brother, Stephen Hughes and his wife, Lynnette, of Arlington, Virginia; two sisters, Amanda Dunning and her husband, George, and Sharon Estes, all of Stuarts Draft; and many nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Nelson Hughes. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012, at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Home with Pastor Don McClure officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary United Methodist Church. The Hughes Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be D.J. McCauley, Mitch McClenahan, Mike Rodgers, Robert Swann, Kenny Wilkinson and Chip Wood. The Hughes family would like to thank Drs. Brandt, Hoy and Lee, and the nursing staff of Augusta Medical Center for their excellent and kind service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 215 Fishersville, VA 22939. Arrangements entrusted to the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Home.
