Claudette Hughes Frederick of Scarborough, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House after a long illness.

She was born May 7, 1935, in Biddeford, daughter of Roland Joseph Hughes and Loretta Michaud. She resided in Portland and South Portland and attended Cathedral High School, graduating in 1954.
Claudette began her career at Loring, Short and Harmon as a clerk. It was there that she met her future husband Robert Nason Frederick of Scarborough. She and Robert were married in 1959. Over the years, they lived in Scarborough and Merrimack, N.H.
Claudette enjoyed her friends and family, along with her annual travel to Florida and especially her two grandchildren.

Claudette was predeceased by her husband Robert, sisters Elaine and Charlene and brother Norman.

She is survived by two sons, Scott Andrew Frederick and Cynthia Frederick of Scarborough, Daniel Frederick and Daniel Plourd of Windham; her two beloved grandchildren Ashley and Alexander Frederick; her brother, Dennis Hughes and Debby Hughes of Westerly, R.I., two sisters-in-law, Cynthia Hughes and Elaine Frederick Killelea; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Claudette's life on Tuesday, Feb.14, 2012, at Independent Death Care, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland, with visiting hours from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., with a public funeral service following at 3:00 p.m. A private spring interment will be held at Black Point Cemetery in Scarborough.
