FUNERAL HELD TODAY IN INDEPENDENCE FOR DR. HICKERSON, 85
Miss Emile Hickerson received word yesterday of the death of her uncle, Dr. John C. Hickerson, 85, at Independence hospital in Independence, Mo. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Carson chapel in Independence with burial in Woodlawn cemetery.
Dr. Hickerson, a brother of the late Dr. E. R. Hickerson of Moberly, had practiced medicine in Independence since 1900. His father, the late Dr. J. C. Hickerson, was a pioneer physician in Moberly. Coming here from Ralls County in 1870. He was one of the first physicians to locate in Moberly.
Several members of the Hickerson family were doctors. In addition to the father, a grandfather, Dr. William Rodes, also was a physician.
Dr. John C. Hickerson was born in Moberly. In 1950 he was feted at a dinner by the medical staff of the Independence hospital for his half-century of service. Until last year he continued his practice on a part-time basis with his son, Dr. William H. Hickerson, Independence.
Also surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Harry Welsh, Jr. Independence, and a brother, W. T. Hickerson, Chicago.
