Bessie Viola (Hufferd)(Long) Bryant passed away at her home on November 5, 1993. Mrs. Bryant was born November 1, 1919, in Iola, the daughter of Daniel and Annie Wiyninger Hufferd. She grew up in Iola. On October 8, 1939, she married Mark Long. they made their home in Iola. He died November 26, 1965 in a car accident. Later, on July 24, 1967 she married Oscar F. Bryant Jr. in Florida. They lived in Kansas City for 10 years. After his death on Febuary 6, 1987, she returned to Iola.
Mrs. Bryant worked the the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and was a member of the Community Baptist Church.
Surviovors include a son, Earl "Butch" Long and his wife Vicki; three daughters, Becky Sinclair and her husband Leon, Linda Barber and her husband Ed all of Iola, and Barbara Morrison and husband Vernon of Lone Elm; a step-daughter Martha Rues, Overland Park; a brother, Virgil Hufferd, Chanute; and 13 grandchildren.
Two brothers, David and Daniel Hufferd, and three sisters, Faye Peterson, Fannie Fursman, and Lillie Gregg are deceased.
Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Memorial Chapels were incharge of service with burial in Highland Cemetery.
