Bea died as simply and as peacefully as she lived. She chose the rosy time of late evening sunset on Thursday, may 15, 1996. From the beginning of Mary conrad Center's existence (she was #3), Bea graced our household with a charm, beauty and an inner joy that comes with pure and uncluttered simplicity. The smile and crinkled eyes of mischief so familiar to us, remained until Bea answered that final call to come to the mountain.
The Huff's, Dick and Bea lived a lifestyle books and movies and dreams are made of. They decided to live freely and simply and set out to accomplish that. The earth was truly their home from which they drew sustenance, shelter, comfort and peace. The strength of that rugged individualism was shared with us through Bea. Words were not needed to convey who she was and what she believed for it was there in her spirit and shining through her eyes.
That we will miss Bea is a given. But we are all richer for having been touched by her. Some of us have had the privilege of REALLY being touched by her through her famous massages given spontaneously when she thought someone was "stressed out". She seemed to have an inner sense of that need in people. Bea possessed a wonderful sense of humor. Her laugh was real and hearty and could lift weary hearts...another simple gift she freely and lavishly shared.
Go in peace, Bea. Join your beloved Richard. Take your place in glory you surely deserve. We will remember you when come upon wildflowers...when we climb among the mountains and drink in the beauty of our world.
