Burton, Fannie L. Nov. 5, 1912 — Feb. 16, 2010
Fannie Lue (Huddleston) Burton, 97, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 16, 2010. Funeral services were held Feb. 20 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Brian Smith officiating. Interment was in the Quarles-Burton Cemetery in the White Plains community of Putnam County.
Mrs. Burton was born Nov. 5, 1912, in Algood, the daughter of Claytor and Lola (Lee) Huddleston.
She was an original Homesteader and long-time member of Cumberland Homesteads Baptist Church. She was a co-owner of Burton and Huddleston Grocery Store with her husband, brother and sister-in-law. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and a role model to all who knew her.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Robert A. and Coba (Robertson) Burton of Fort Wayne, IN, Jack R. and Jan (Randolph) Burton of Leo, IN, Fred T. and Grace (Baltimore) Burton of Suwannee, GA, James E. and Barbara (Ward) Burton of Roswell, GA, and Kay (Burton) and Gerry Eastman of Knoxville; sister, Dimple Boatman of Nashville; 11 grandchildren and 10 spouses; 14 great-grandchildren and one spouse; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends who counted her their own.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herman Allan Burton; infant son, Charles; brother, Frank Huddleston; and sister, Myrtle Shearon.
Special thanks to her faithful caregivers, Mary, Annette, Ernestine, Rhonda, JoAnn, Ree, Imogene, Barbara, Alene and to Hospice for their compassionate guidance during her final days.
Pallbearers were Gerry Eastman, Brig Eastman, Jesse Specks, Reggie Rowell, Bill Wiegand and Howard Bilbrey.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cumberland Homesteads Baptist Church.
