Doris was born Jan. 21, 1928 to Stuart and Dora (Petersen) Huddle at Madison. She was married to Gordon Schurman in 1946. They had three sons. In 1952 she married Jerry Carpenter, and they had one daughter.

She was a member of Fellowship Bible Church. The couple lived in Newman Grove where she worked for the telephone office. Then they moved to Schuyler in 1969 where she worked at a hospital. In 1976 they moved to Grand Island and then back to Newman Grove in 1992. She worked in Grand Island and Newman Grove as activities director at nursing homes.

Doris passed Saturday August 2, 2014 at the Boone County Health Center.

She has two sons; one daughter; three granddaughters, two grandsons and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992, one son, one grandson, two sisters, two brothers, one of which was her twin, and twin sisters in infancy.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 pm at Newman Grove Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday at Fellowship Bible Church in Newman Grove with burial at Hope Cemetery.
