She was born June 21, 1909, in Catlettsburg, Ky., a daughter of the late Ulysses Grant Hubbard and Mary Ellen (Ella) M. Hubbard Sarten. She was a member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church, a 67-year member of Elizabeth Woman's Club and a 50-year plus member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as past matron. She was also a member of Wirt Chapter 113 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service where she was the clerk for 33 years.
Survivors include three nephews, Dearman Coplin of Elizabeth, Donald Coplin of Palestine and Lloyd Coplin of North Canton, Ohio; four nieces, Carol Ann Johnson of Barboursville, Mary Kay Miller of Columbus, Ohio, and Mary Nelle Taylor and Pat Zert of South Haven, Ms.; several great and great-great-nephews and nieces; and special friends. Warren and Mary Davis.
Along with her parents and stepfather, J. William Sarten, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harry W. Coplin, who passed away in 1987; seven brothers, Henry (Pete) Hubbard, Ralph Hubbard, George Hubbard, Robert Sarten, Glenn Sarten, William (Bill) Sarten and Charles (Tom) Sarten, and a nephew, William F. Coplin.
Services were held Friday at the Elizabeth Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark McCloy officiating. Burial followed in the Knights of Phythias Cemetery.
