PREDECEASED BY: his parents, Frank Wilson Hubbard and Martha Wainwright Hubbard, and a brother, F Curtis Hubbard, all of Farmville.
SURVIVORS: a niece, Martha H. Schleigh of Midlothian; nephews, William Curtis Hubbard of Atlanta, GA, and Dr. F. Alan Hubbard of Wilmington, NC; great-nieces and nephews, Lea Cadden, Curt Clingenpeel, Gregory Hubbard, Ben Hubbard, Melissa Hubbard, Kent Hubbard, and Tommy Hubbard.
MILITARY: Enlistment in the National Guard, June 21, 1937, and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, Feb. 3, 1941; assigned to Farmville's Company G, 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division. After being transferred to Division headquarters, he served with the 29th Division in Europe during World War II. Twice wounded during the Battle of Normandy, he received the Purple Heart Medal and one Oak Leaf Cluster for wounds received in action. He retired from the United States Army Reserve with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
