Dolores Hoyt, 63, of the 400 block of Slate St., passed away May 18, 2008, in her home. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late William Wittman and Marjorie Wittman. She retired from Priority Chevrolet after 30 years of service.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Hal Hoyt; her mother, Marjorie Wittman; her daughter, Valerie Sawyer and husband Mark of Gardendale, Ala.; and her son, David Hoyt and his wife Michelle of Franklin, Va. She was the dedicated grandmother to William, Ryan, Jeffrey, Torie, Andrea and Grant. She is also survived by her siblings, Leonard Wittman and wife Helen of Georgia, Estelle Spachmann and husband Gary of Norfolk, Bob Wittman and wife Patty of Virginia Beach, Martin Wittman of Virginia Beach, Rick Wittman and wife Bonnie of Florida, Tom Wittman and wife Marion of Virginia Beach, Tony Wittman and wife Pam of Chesapeake and John Wittman and wife Michelle of Virginia Beach; many nieces and nephews, extended family in Australia and her best friend, Barbara Poyner.
She spent many hours as a volunteer with the In As Much Kings Daughters Circle. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
A funeral will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel. The burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with a wake at 6:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
