Jennie, age 91, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, July 24, 2021. She was a resident of Holden, LA. Jennie was a member of James Chapel Methodist Church and St. James Baptist Church. She was known by everyone as Grandma, whether you were family or just a friend. Jennie was the definition of a Christian lady. She always took care of others and never turned anyone away. Jennie would help anyone in need and literally always put others needs before hers. She loved spending time in her garden and enjoyed going to garage sales and flea markets. Jennie was a selfless woman with a heart of gold and will be deeply missed.

Jennie is survived by her daughter, Virginia Ann Dennis; sons, Willie C. Hoyt (Edna), Michael Hoyt (Leona); sister, Thelma Watts; 25 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawson D. Hoyt; sons, Wallace Daniel Hoyt, Johnny E. Hoyt; daughter, Rosemary Hoyt Ballard; parents, Willie and Virgie Smith; sister, Lucille Oliphant; and brothers, GW Smith, Monroe Smith, and Louis C. Smith.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 Hwy 190 W. Hammond, LA 70401, on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in James Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.
