Ruth, or Ruthie as her late husband, Russell, called her, was born to John and Ethel Hoyt on June 3, 1928. She and Russell were married on December 29, 1946 and enjoyed 58 years of a loving partnership until Russell's passing in 2005. They were blessed with three children.

Ruth worked for many years at Marshall Brass and was a member of the Women of the Moose in Marshall. She was honored to once be selected the Marshall Veteran's Day Queen.

Ruth spent much of her time traveling and spending time with family and friends.
