23 January 1841: Pauline Baumann [Hoyer] is registered as the second child of Elizabeth Dorothea Baumann, born January 23 and baptised February 5, 1841 in church records (book 636-1841, birth #22) of the Evangelische Kirche Schleusingen (Schleusingen, Hildburghausen, Thüringen, Prussia). As the father is unidentified in these records, like her older sister, she was apparently also born out of wedlock - her mother being 25 years old and her father only 17 at the time. Her father left for the United States while her mother was pregnant with Pauline, but returned and married in 1846 (when Pauline was 5 years old) in Schleusingen. Pauline's parents left for the United States later that same year, her mother as a first-time immigrant and her father as a returning passenger, having immigrated in 1840. They left both daughters (Amanda and Pauline) behind in Schleusingen.
21 October 1853; Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania: immigrated aboard the ship "Louise Marie" with her mother, who apparently returned to Schleusingen from Newark to retrieve her daughter Pauline and Pauline's older sister, Amanda. Pauline's father was not with them as he is not registered as a passenger. Somewhat prophetically, this trio is buried together (varying times) within Woodland Cemetery Sect. B, Lot 4 - again without her father, Gottlieb Hoyer. Age 12 at immigration, this was only the second time she had met her father.
21 April 1861; Newark, Essex Co., New Jersey: married George Martin Bross III, also newly immigrated to New York City from Ostelsheim, Wuerttemberg, Prussia.
31 Mar 1872; Newark, Essex Co., New Jersey: died from complications related to giving birth two months prior.
02 Apr 1872; Newark, Essex Co., New Jersey: buried at Woodland Cemetery together with her deceased infant child -- and later, with her mother (plot owner) and older sister.
