Art worked for many years in the family carpentry and roofing business, and operated Hoy's Cafe on South Main Street at various locations. He suffered a massive stroke while laughing at one of his favorite TV shows, and never regained consciousness.
Besides his wife and children, Art was survived by his brothers John Nash Hoy and Robert Lee Hoy. He was preceded by his parents, brother Ralph Gilbert Hoy and sister Cora Elizabeth (Hoy) Bus.
