Son of Frederick Arthur Hoy Sr. and his wife Jennie Lee Nash. "Art" married Eva "Faustine" Mincher in Galesburg on 3 June 1922. Two children were born to the couple, Frederick Cass Hoy and Dolores Margaret (Hoy) Clark.
Art worked for many years in the family carpentry and roofing business, and operated Hoy's Cafe on South Main Street at various locations. He suffered a massive stroke while laughing at one of his favorite TV shows, and never regained consciousness.
Besides his wife and children, Art was survived by his brothers John Nash Hoy and Robert Lee Hoy. He was preceded by his parents, brother Ralph Gilbert Hoy and sister Cora Elizabeth (Hoy) Bus.
