Beatrice J. "Bea" Dearing

November 14, 1929 ~ June 18, 2013

Beatrice J. "Bea" Dearing, age 83, lifelong resident of the Wenatchee Valley, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, after a six month battle with mesothelioma. Bea was born to Glen and Kathryn (Heinrich) Hower on November 14, 1929, and was raised in Dryden, where she attended school and graduated in 1948. Upon graduation, she attended Beauty School. On May 20, 1951, she married Derald W. Dearing at the Presbyterian Church in Cashmere, where they began their 47 year journey together. Over the next few years, Bea and Derald lived in Wenatchee and Oroville, before buying a cherry orchard and settling on Wenatchee Heights in 1961, where they raised their three children. In 1986, they purchased a home and moved off their beloved hill and into the Valley. Bea worked as a cosmetologist and packed apples for ten years. She then worked for Northwest Wholesale for 31 years, retiring in 1995. After retirement, Bea was able to enjoy her favorite things in life. She spent summer days on the golf course and cold winter days cross country skiing, always surrounded by her many friends. During this time, she also enjoyed traveling around the world and could find a casino just about anywhere. Even with all of her activities, Bea found time to volunteer at Central Washington Hospital, where she spent 12 years helping others. This gave her great joy. But her greatest joy in life was found surrounded by her family on the back patio for the notorious "Happy Hour", barbecues and simply watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren swim.

Survivors include son, Bill (Marlene) Dearing and daughter, Susan Dearing (Brad Boucher), all of Wenatchee; one brother, Lamar (Gloria) Hower of Pullman; one sister, Darlene (Garry) Gault of Oregon City, OR; six grandchildren, Chrissy, Jessica (Kwame), Alicia, Shad (Karin), Erin (Mark) and Jessica (Ted); 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Derald; two sons, Bruce and Don; grandson, Robert; and her parents.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cashmere Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Chapel on Friday, June 21, 2013, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bea's name to the Our House Cancer Care Center.
