Obituary in the Onawa paper June 22, 1950:

Ann Francis Butcher. Ann Francis Butcher, second child of John Howell and Selina Vaughn Howell was born in Cotselwood, England on Nov. 13, 1865. She was the last surviving member of her family. She came to this country with her folks when she was one and one-half years old and resided in Washington County, Iowa in her early years.

She was married to William Butcher in Pottawattamie county on Oct. 15, 1885. To this marriage were born five children, three girls and two boys. One son, Harry, preceded her in death, as did her husband, William.

Mrs. Butcher made her home in Onawa with her daughter Mrs. Mable Shaffer, for the past twenty-two years. Whenever possible she attended the Methodist church. She served as a practical nurse for over fifteen years in the county giving excellent and friendly care. Through this service she met many people and made a host of friends.

She passed away in the Onawa Hospital on June 15, 1950 at the age of 84 years. Those who mourn her passing are three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Kinsley and Mrs. Mable Shaffer of Onawa and Mrs. Myrtle McJunkins of Sioux City; one son, William Raymond, of Le Mars, Iowa; ten grandchildren , eighteen great grandchildren and many friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 17, at 2 P.M. from the Pearson Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Metcalf officiating.
