Clarabel was born on Oct. 13, 1907, in Paulding county, Georgia, the daughter of John Robert and Amandy "Mandy" C. Cole. John and Mandy married in 1887, and by the 1900 U.S. Census had 8 children, 5 living. By 1910, they had 14 children, 10 living and Cara B. [sic] was the youngest living child. By 1920, she had three additional siblings.
Clarabel lost her mother sometime between 1920 and 1930, because her father is listed as "widowed" on the census of 1930. She worked as a seamstress in a shirt mill. The family lived in Breman, Haralson county, Georgia, that year.
By 1940, Clarabel's father had remarried, a woman 30 years his junior. She is listed as "Elmer" in the census that year, but is possibly "Elma". Clara B. [sic] was working as a presser in a shirt factory.
The family farm is listed as being on River Road in the Howell's district of Cobb county, Georgia, in 1940. Besides her brother Sollie's family, one of their neighbors was William Howell and his son, Charles.
Clarabel and Charles married sometime after 1940, the first marriage for both.
Clarabel passed away on Oct. 5, 1985, in Lithia Springs, Douglas county, Georgia. She is buried in the Howell Cemetery next to her husband, Charles.
