Faye Louise Gipe, 81, formerly of Keokuk, died at Mesquite Community Hospital.
She was born to John William and Theresa Ada Wilson Howell. She married Glen Phillips. In 1943, she married Darrell Gipe. He died September 10, 1993.
Mrs. Gipe worked for 13, years at Swift and Company. She then worked at Keokuk Area Hospital for three years. She retired from the Keokuk School District in 1987. She was a seamstress and sewed for Forbes in Keokuk and Hoyer Glasgow in Fort Madison. She also sewed for individuals.
She loved to sew, quilt, crochet, knit and cross-stitch.
Survivors include sons, Muril Phillips of Montrose, Harvey Gipe Jr. of Warsaw, Illinois, and Jerry Gipe of Kansas City, Misouri; daughter, Janet L. Hall of Mesquite, Texas; brothers, Frank Howell of Jacksonville, Florida and Hank Howell of Grove City, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, six brothers, and seven sisters.
The graveside service was held at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk, with the Rev. Bill Hauser officiating.
