Feb. 28, 1934 – March 4, 2011 Carolyn M. Howell, 77, of Keokuk died Friday, March 4, 2011, in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
She was born on Feb. 28, 1934, the daughter of Horace and Estell Lanam Mann.
She married Kenneth L. Howell on Oct. 24, 1953, in Keokuk. He survives.
She was a lifelong resident of Keokuk. She had worked at Sheller-Globe and retired from Armour-Dial.
In her retirement she and Kenneth enjoyed traveling. She also enjoyed her flower gardens, craft work, crocheting, being outside and feeding the birds. She would help anyone who needed help. The best enjoyment for her was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Additional survivors include: eight children; Lisa Rairden and husband, Steven, of Keokuk, Sandra Marmion and husband, Bruce, of Hamilton, Ill., Cindy Howell, Susan Howell, Brian Howell and Kenneth Howell Jr., all of Keokuk, Robin Kitzman and husband, Rick, of Keokuk, and Candy Dupuy and husband, James, of Kokomo, Ind.; 20 grandchildren; Steven Rairden Jr, of Keokuk, Marcus Coleman and wife, Melissa, of Mount Pleasant, Chad, Dustin, Stephanie and Richard Marmion, all of Hamilton, Shane Rairden and wife, Amanda, of Tiffin, Mike Russell and wife, Candance, of Hamilton, David Finch and wife, Tiffany, of Keokuk, Abby and Gabby Dupuy of Kokomo, Cory Dupuy and wife, Megan, of Brookston, Ind., Kimberly Hubbard of Helena, Alab., Alison Ward and Kenny, Kolton, Keaton, Keagan, Katelyn and Karly Howell, all of Keokuk; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Delores Stinson of Keokuk, Alvina Meyers and husband, Bill, of Keokuk, Glenda Hardman and husband, Jerry, of Keokuk, Mary Fink and husband, Gerald, of Carthage, Ill., Anita Fecht and husband, Donald, of Carthage, Gilbert Mann and wife, Sharon, of Peoria, Ariz., Larry Mann of Arizona and Judy Grogan and husband, Mike, of Keokuk; sister-in-law, Juanita Mann of Keokuk; brother-in-law, Orville Howell of Georgetown, Texas; cousin, Marilyn Thomas of Keokuk; aunt, Evelyn Nye and husband, Robert, of Keokuk; many nieces and nephews; and longtime friends, Joan Boatwright and Joyce Kamp.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kimberly Howell; grandson, Jason Russell; granddaughter, Lindsay Dupuy; three brothers, Jack Mann, Pete Mann and Danny Mann; and a sister in infancy.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center, 917 Blondeau St., KIeokuk, with Brother Bill Hauser officiating.
Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.
