OBITUARY - 10/02/2011
Delbert Howard, age 76, of Manchester, and formerly of Woollum, died Thursday, September 29, 2011 in the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. He was a son of the late Fount Howard, Sr. and Mary Margaret (Teague) Howard, born to them on January 14, 1935 at Woollum. Delbert worked as a Farm worker, and enjoyed Farming, and he also enjoyed Gardening, and Reading, and being around his family, especially his great nieces and nephews; and was of the Baptist Faith. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents: Fount Howard, Sr. and Mary Margaret (Teague) Howard; his sister: Drucilla Howard Brock; his four brothers: John S. Howard, Andrew Howard, Fount Howard, Jr., and Herbert Howard; and a special brother-in-law: George Brock. Delbert is survived by his loving family: His sister: Nora Dell Gibson and husband, Rev, Ed Wayne Gibson of Gray. His brother: George Howard and wife, Georgia of Woollum. His three sisters-in-law: Bernice Howard of London; Helen Howard of Charleston, South Carolina; and Ethel Howard of Detroit, Michigan; and a host of special nieces and nephews, and very special friends to mourn his passing. Funeral Services for Delbert Howard will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 3, 2011 at the Antioch Baptist Church at Woollum with Rev. William R. "Mann" Cobb and Rev. Scott Hammons officiating. Burial will follow in the Blevins Cemetery at Woollum. Those serving as Pallbearers will be: Brain Howard, Doug Gibson, John S. Brock, Fount Brock, Ricky Gibson, Larry Gibson and Steve Howard. Serving as a Honorary Pallbearer will be Ben Hoskins. Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. The Howard family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home after 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, and on Monday after 10:00 A.M. at the Antioch Baptist Church, and until the funeral hour.
