Hal Howard was in the coal and feed business when in Greenfield, until the advent of automobiles. He had a cider press, and made cider every Fall for years for numerous farmers, and a hay baling outfit which baled hay for farmers throughout this area. He served a couple of terms as City Clerk early in this century. Hal died in Alton, Feb. 13, 1959. Ellen Agnes died March 13, 1962.
Their children were: Guy Francis Howard; Eula Agnes Howard; Florence Ellen Howard; Mildred Anne Howard; and Charles Thomas Howard.
