|Birth: ||Mar. 31, 1935|
|Death: ||May 9, 2012|
On May 9, 2012, Janeil Hovey Bankhead returned home to her Heavenly Father after her fight with leukemia.
Janeil was born in Millville on March 31, 1935, to Vern and Jennie Hovey, the second of four children. Mom met Ray Bankhead on the dance floor at the Elite Hall in Hyrum. They married June 3, 1955, in the Logan LDS Temple.
After they were married Janeil worked at Logan Knitting Mills until the first of the three boys came along. Since then she has been a stay-at-home wife and mother, spending her time raising the family and helping out on the family farm wherever she could.
Janeil's greatest satisfaction in life was caring for the needs of family and friends she was surrounded by. As a family we never had to worry about the day-to-day things we all depend on. When she wasn't taking care of the house and yard she was helping on the farm. She drove the hay trucks, rowed bales and bottle fed the baby calves, which got the same love and care as the family.
Janeil enjoyed family traditions and made sure they carried on and that all were invited to be a part of them. She also helped care for her mother-in-law, Libby, during her final years. Janeil and her mother, Jennie, were best friends and spent a lot of time together after Janeil's father died in 1973, and was Jennie's caretaker in her later years.
Being a grandmother was Janeil's greatest joy. She taught her grandkids the important things of life by example and the life she lived. When they visited Grandma they always knew you were loved and that she was going to spoil you.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held many positions that brought her great pleasure in serving including stake primary president, singing in the ward choir, Cub Scout leader, and most recently ward librarian, which was perhaps her favorite.
Janeil is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ray Bankhead of Wellsville; three sons, Lex (Clarene) Bankhead of Rexburg, Idaho, Kent (Susan) Bankhead of Wellsville, and Keven (Stacey) Bankhead of Mt. Sterling; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Valoyce (Dean, deceased) Jensen of Hughson, Calif.; and brothers, Arlan (Gayla) Hovey and Clinton (Teresa) Hovey, both of Millville.
The funeral for Janeil will be at noon Tuesday, May 15, at the Wellsville 3rd Ward chapel, 49 W. 200 South, Wellsville, Utah. A viewing will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. the day of the funeral at the church. Interment will be in the Wellsville Cemetery.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net.
Our family expresses thanks to Dr. Ben-Jacob and his staff, the hospital doctors and nurses and the hospice nurses for the care and love they have provided and shown to Mom.
